Council of Experts on Quality Assurance and Accreditation
The CHEA Council of Experts on Quality Assurance and Accreditation is a structured network of leading scholars and practitioners established to strengthen CHEA’s engagement on emerging issues shaping academic quality and accreditation.
The Council brings together recognized experts from across higher education to inform CHEA’s convenings, publications, and strategic initiatives—ensuring that CHEA’s work remains forward-looking, evidence-informed, and responsive to a rapidly evolving policy and institutional landscape.
Purpose and Focus
The Council is designed to provide insight and perspective on key issues affecting academic quality and accreditation, including:
- Student outcomes and measures of value
- Assessment and institutional effectiveness
- Innovation in teaching and learning
- The role of artificial intelligence in higher education
- Emerging trends in quality assurance and accreditation
Role of the Council
The Council is advisory in nature and complements CHEA’s existing governance structure by:
- Strengthening the quality and relevance of CHEA’s convenings, publications, and initiatives
- Providing timely insight into emerging issues and policy developments
- Helping interpret trends affecting academic quality and public trust
- Expanding connections among institutions, accreditors, policymakers, and experts
- Supporting CHEA’s growing global engagement in quality assurance
