Scott Jackson Dantley to Join CHEA Staff
As Vice President for Recognition Services

(Washington, DC) – Scott Jackson Dantley, Ph.D. will join the staff of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as Vice President for Recognition Services, effective October 7, 2013.

The Vice President for Recognition Services’ primary responsibility is coordinating and managing CHEA’s recognition policy and process, working with the CHEA Committee on Recognition, as well as providing information to CHEA constituents and the public with regard to CHEA recognition and generating national data and analysis on accreditation.

CHEA is a non-governmental organization that provides national coordination of accreditation. As one of its major functions, CHEA scrutinizes (“recognizes”) accrediting organizations based on standards developed for this purpose. At present, 60 accrediting organizations are recognized by CHEA.

“Scott brings valuable experience in accreditation and in academics to CHEA,” said Judith Eaton, CHEA’s President. “We look forward to him joining our staff.”

Prior to joining CHEA’s staff, Dr. Dantley served as Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning and Professor of Chemistry at Coppin State University, where he was the university’s accreditation liaison. Previously, he held administrative and academic positions at Bowie State University, Florida A&M University, Southern University and Temple University. He holds a Ph.D. in science education from the University of Maryland.
