Paula Peinovich Elected Board Member of the
Council for Higher Education Accreditation

Dr. Paula Peinovich, President of the National Labor College, has been elected to the board of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), effective September 21, 2010. She was elected to a three-year term during the CHEA Board of Directors meeting held September 20-21, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Peinovich was appointed to a three-year term as President of the National Labor College in 2010, following five months of service as the college’s interim leader. Recently she has been consulting with universities on assessment, strategic planning and online education.

Dr. Peinovich held positions as both Provost and President of Walden University, a distance education graduate university from 2002 through 2007. She also spent more than a decade helping to guide Excelsior College, another online institution, as Vice President of Academic Affairs. Prior to her leadership roles in online education, Peinovich served as the Executive Dean of Wayne Community College in Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Peinovich earned a B.A. from St. Olaf College, an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Ph.D. in higher education policy from the University of Pennsylvania.

The CHEA Board of Directors is composed of chief executive officers from degree-granting institutions, joined by other institutional representatives and public members. The board and executive committee meet three times each year.
