(Washington, D.C.) – Leah K. Matthews will join the staff of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as Vice President for Recognition Services, effective November 16, 2009.
The Vice President for Recognition Services is responsible for coordination and management of CHEA’s recognition policy and recognition process, working with the CHEA Committee on Recognition. The vice president is also responsible for providing information to CHEA constituents and the public with regard to CHEA recognition, as well as generating national data and analysis on accreditation.
“CHEA’s recognition function is one of the organizations most important activities,” said CHEA President Judith Eaton. “Leah brings 11 years of valuable experience in accreditation to our organization. We look forward to her joining our staff and to working with her.”
Prior to joining CHEA’s staff, Matthews served as Director of Institutional Compliance and Agency Recognition for the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma, and currently is pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at George Mason University.
