(Washington, DC) – Martha J. Kanter, Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, and other top speakers from the higher education and accreditation communities will be featured at the Council for Higher Education Accreditation’s 2010 Annual Conference.
Kanter will serve as opening keynote speaker on Tuesday, January 26. CHEA’s 2010 Annual Conference – which will include the Fourth National Accreditation Forum and will be followed by the CHEA International Seminar – will be held January 25-28 at the Marriott Hotel Washington in Washington, D.C.
“We are delighted that Under Secretary Kanter has agreed to be a keynote speaker at our Annual Conference,” said CHEA President Judith Eaton. “Her knowledge of and involvement in higher education and accreditation-related issues will make her remarks both timely and relevant.”
Additional conference speakers will include Jamil Salmi, Coordinator of the World Bank Network of Tertiary Education Professionals; Kevin Carey, Policy Director of Education Sector; Richard Yelland, Head of the Education Management and Infrastructure Division of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Directorate of Education; George Peterson, Executive Director Emeritus of ABET, Inc.; and Belle Wheelan, President of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), among others.
