David Johnson III Elected Board Member of the
Council for Higher Education Accreditation

David Johnson III, a former member of the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), has been elected to the board of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), effective July 1, 2010. He was elected to a three-year term during CHEA’s annual board meeting, held April 26-27, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

Johnson served as a member of NACIQI – the federal advisory body to the U.S. Secretary of Education that provides recommendations on the recognition of accrediting organizations – from 2002 to 2006. From 2006-2009, Johnson served as director of the Office of State Debt Collection for the state of Utah. Previously, Johnson was director of government relations and assistant to the attorney general of Utah and served as an adjunct professor of marketing and finance for Utah Valley State College.

Johnson received his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Utah State University, his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.

The CHEA Board of Directors is composed of chief executive officers from degree-granting institutions, joined by other institutional representatives and public members. The board and executive committee meet three times each year.
