Focus on Higher Education Termed Vital for Progress of Nations (Dawn [Pakistan], December 19, 2017) “Research and other activities regarding quality assurance carried out in the institutes of higher education should be translated into economic development and overall uplift of the society, said Syed Zafar Ali Shah, the secretary of higher education department.”

Warning Against Bogus Colleges (Zululand Observer [South Africa], December 18, 2017) “The Department of Higher Education has warned students to be wary of illegal private colleges operating in the country, particularly during this time of year. ‘New legislation require all private Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) and Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) accredited providers to now register with the department as private colleges,’ the Department said."

A Global Recognition Convention for Academic Mobility (University World News, December 15, 2017) “The draft global convention on academic mobility will improve the rights of internationally mobile students, promote robust ethical quality assurance systems, contribute to building trust across borders and pave the way for increased global cooperation in higher education.”

UAE Universities to be Rated in Bid to Boost Quality (The National, December 13, 2017) “The Ministry of Education will soon be issuing a star rating to all licensed colleges and universities, as part of the National Higher Education Strategy 2030 that was approved by the UAE Cabinet this week.”

Colleges Are Trying to Improve First-Year Experience, Says New Report (The University Times, December 13, 2017) “Quality and Qualifications Ireland, which regulates and promotes quality and accountability in higher education, has launched two new reports. The first, ‘Quality within Higher Education,’ summarises the quality assurance and quality enhancement activities in state-funded higher education institutions over the last academic year, while the second evaluates professional accreditation in Ireland.“

Vietnamese Universities Reject Results of Domestic Accreditation Centers (VietnamNet Bridge, December 12, 2017) “Schools have said they don't want to be accredited by domestic centers, but are choosing to be accredited by foreign independent organizations in accordance with international criteria.”
