Terminated For-Profit Accreditor Seeks New Life (Politico “Morning Education,” September 14, 2017) “The [Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools] will submit a formal petition for recognition as a national accreditor to the [U.S. Department of Education] by October 1.”

Colleges Need to Do More to Help Students Transfer Credits, GAO Says (Washington Post, September 13, 2017) “A part of the problem is for-profit schools are typically nationally accredited whereas public and private nonprofit colleges are regionally accredited, and prefer to accept credits from other regionally accredited schools, the [Government Accountability Office] said.”
