Advocates Seek Greater Voice in Student Governance (Diverse Issues in Higher Education, June 27, 2017) “Students should have a stronger voice in decisions that affect the colleges and universities they attend, and shared governance is one of the best ways to make that happen. That’s the argument that Rini Sampath, policy director at the National Campus Leadership Council, a national student advocacy organization, proffered Tuesday at an annual summertime gathering of accreditors.”

Commission Warns of More Trouble for IL Higher Ed Without Budget (WSUI, June 26, 2017) “The Higher Learning Commission – an organization that accredits schools in the Midwest – recently sent a letter to state lawmakers and the governor, urging them to pass a budget. The HLC says without state funding, Illinois universities are at risk of losing their accreditation.”

A Model for Teaching Innovation in Higher Education Worldwide? (University World News, June 23, 2017) “As an alternative provider of higher learning outside China’s formal higher education system, getting international recognition was an early imperative for DeTao Masters Academy. Fortuitously, as the advanced programme was being offered, the US Council for Higher Education Accreditation was developing, through its International Quality Group or CHEA-CIQG, a ‘Quality Platform.’”
